Norths Devils lead the way in developing Junior Rugby League!
Posted on June 28 2019
Would your club benefit from having a professional come in and talk about a specialist subject like strapping? Norths Devils Rugby League’s Henry I’Iga talks to us about an initiative which enables local junior club trainers to become better equipped when stepping onto the field.
Norths Devils RLFC has teamed up with Victor Sports to host bi annual strapping clinics. Their affiliate junior clubs and trainers are invited to attend the clinics as part of their wider efforts to support and help educate the greater Rugby League community.
The clinics are run throughout the regular season to fit in with the club’s scheduled games. The program is geared towards improving the knowledge and skills of the on field trainers by building on their current experience, teaching new techniques and talking through potential situations.
As the Devils’ Queensland Cup trainer, Henry has been involved in running these clinics for a number of years and has really seen the impact his teachings have had on the volunteers, parents and players alike.
‘The Aspley event had trainers from Norths Juniors Rugby League, St Joeys Rugby League and a few other clubs. This meant we were able to accommodate several clubs in the one location’ Henry explained.
With Norths Devils and Victor Sports investing in clinics like these, it shows there is a distinct interest in supporting and investing in the development and growth of junior Rugby League.
